What an underactive thyroid does
The thyroid sets metabolic rate across essentially every tissue. When it underperforms, resting energy expenditure falls and weight rises — typically modestly, and typically alongside fatigue, cold intolerance, dry skin, constipation and low mood.
It is common, more so in women and with increasing age, and it is diagnosed with a straightforward blood test measuring TSH and usually free T4.
Treatment is a daily thyroid hormone tablet, inexpensive and effective. People whose weight gain was thyroid-driven often describe the change after treatment as the difference between swimming against a current and not.

Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. An HbA1c measures average glucose over roughly three months. Weight change in either direction, alongside thirst, frequent urination or fatigue, is a classic presentation, and early identification changes the outcome substantially.
Iron deficiency and B12 deficiency both cause fatigue that people frequently attribute to a slow metabolism, and both are on a routine panel.
Medication effects. Several very common drug classes cause weight gain as a documented effect, and reviewing your list with a pharmacist costs nothing.

Consider the comparison directly. A six-bottle package costs $234 to $294 and delivers undisclosed amounts of ingredients whose researched doses a capsule cannot reach.
A thyroid panel and an HbA1c are routine tests, free in many systems and inexpensive everywhere. They either identify a treatable cause or rule one out, and both outcomes are worth having.
Ask by name. “My weight has changed and I’d like my thyroid and blood sugar checked” is a complete and reasonable request that moves the conversation past general advice about diet.
If both come back normal, you have lost nothing and gained certainty. If one does not, you have found the thing no supplement was ever going to fix.

Psyllium husk or inulin powder costs a few pence per gram-scale serving and states exactly how much you are taking. A tub lasts months. That is the same mechanism these pages describe, delivered at an amount that can actually produce it.

Take the smallest package. Photograph the Supplement Facts panel when it arrives and compare it against what you were sold. Weigh at the same time each morning and compare weekly averages rather than individual days. And diarise day 50, assuming the shorter version of the guarantee applies.

That depends which site you order from. One lists Green Tea Extract, Apple Cider Vinegar, a “Fiber Blend” and a “Vitamin B Complex”. Another lists Chicory Root Inulin, Potato Resistant Starch and a three-strain probiotic blend.
